Release Point

What is Release Point?

This is my own modality, through the years as I experimented with acupressure, shiatsu and other light touch energy therapies I discovered be placing the tips of my fingers or my hands in certain area of the body I could get a substantial amount of release in certain muscles or groups of muscles that had a hard time releasing through traditional massage.

So Release Point just relaxes muscles?

No, Release Point is an energy work, energy work in my opinion calms the nervous system, relaxes the nerves. Once the nerves have calmed down it places the whole body in more of a relaxed state. Those that have experienced this sensation make comments like they feel more centered or at peace.

What does it feel like?

To some they may feel nothing (there are a small percentage of people that this modality doesn't work for them). Others feel a heat or cold sensations, some see colors or images in their minds eye, and others get a deep sense of bliss. In most cases it is deeply relaxing, your body may naturally and automatically twitch or jerk slightly as this is normal and you might even fall asleep.

Why is it normal for the body to twitch or jerk?

What I have noticed over the years is when this happens is as if the body knows how to naturally adjust and release tension, unbalanced energy and bring itself to a natural state of homeostasis. If you feel like your body wants to twitch try to resist stopping it and let it happen. You might even feel tension building up in certain areas of your body, by consciously moving those areas of the body it will help release the energy generating in that area.

What happens if I feel tension building up and my body doesn't twitch and I don't move?

Nothing, most of the time while I do this modality I jostle the body to help release areas. If an area doesn't release for some reason it just isn't the time for it to release, I'm not going to force it.

When would you do this modality?

This modality is great for those who like light touch work or energy work and I would do the whole session using Release Point. If I was providing a traditional massage and some muscles weren't responding to the massage, I might stop and do a little Release Point to help calm the nerves.
